Around 5:30 AM, a truck transporting linen collided with an LPG tanker. The LPG tanker was trying to make a U-turn close to Delhi Public School. The impact damaged the tanker’s nozzles, triggering a major gas leak that quickly ignited, causing explosions audible for kilometers. Eyewitnesses likened the escaping gas to water gushing from a breached dam, just before the inferno erupted.
Casualties and Injuries.
The tragic incident claimed victims from diverse backgrounds, including bus passengers and truck drivers. Numerous injured people had suffered serious burns; according to some reports, up to 70% of their bodies were impacted.
